Auburndale Cove Park & Playground is a multi-purpose recreation facility situated along the scenic Charles River that offers tennis courts, basketball hoops, a regulation baseball field, life course, modular and free standing play equipment, four picnic sites with grills and tables, and a building with restrooms.
The Cove is about 1.5 miles by river from our boathouse, and makes an excellent spot for picnics, birthday parties, or a relaxing break while paddling. Picnic areas will accommodate groups of up to 50 or 100 persons.
If you plan to use the grills at Auburndale Cove, a picnic permit from the Newton Parks and Recreation Department is required. Click here for more information.
directions from Rt.128:
Take Exit 24 (Route 30). Turn right onto Rt.30 East/Commonwealth Ave. Shortly after the baseball field on left, turn left onto Melrose Street (if you reach Lexington Street, you’ve gone too far). Take the third left off Melrose Street on to West Pine Street. Follow West Pine Street to the parking lot at Auburndale Park.
