Charles River Canoe & Kayak rents canoes for the Lou Marcel Memorial Canoe Race. A standard canoe rents for $55. This year you must pre-pay and reserve a boat before the race. No day of race rentals will be available. This rental is not your race registration.

The rental fee is refundable up to one week (7 days) before the race, less a 10% reservation fee. If cancellation of the rental occurs with less than one week's notice, the rental fee is forfeited. In the event the race is cancelled, we will refund the rental fee less a 10% registration fee. Individuals who have pre-paid for their rental but are refused due to intoxication will forfeit their rental fee; no refunds or credits will be offered.

Your credit card number will be held as a deposit. If you do not pay by credit card, we will require a check or signed credit card imprint for the amount indicated below. Renters are responsible for all damage beyond normal wear and tear.

Canoe rental includes two paddles and two PFDs and costs $55.

Each person who will paddling a canoe will be required to sign a waiver and release of liability. Children under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a release. Releases will be available on the day of the event or may be downloaded here.

All paddlers will be required to wear a PFD (lifejacket) at all times while on the water.

No alcohol will be allowed in the canoes. No individuals who are intoxicated or who have been drinking will be allowed to take possession of rented canoes. No exceptions; no refunds.

Faster and lighter canoes are available for an additional charge ($75 for a Royalex canoe or $95 for a Kevlar canoe). Please call Charles River Canoe & Kayak at (617) 965-5110 if you would like to reserve a high performance canoe.
