— Introductory Kayak Trips 2008 —
If you would like a one-day introduction to sea kayaking, our Level 1 Kayak Trips cover most of the skills introduced in the Introduction to Kayaking series while taking time to enjoy a day along the prettiest sections of the Massachusetts coast.
You'll learn efficient paddling technique, the necessary strokes to maneuver your kayak in any direction, and advanced techniques such as bracing to prevent a capsize. Particular emphasis will also be placed on safety issues such as trip selection and practicing both self- and assisted rescues and re-entries.
If you plan to become a sea kayaker, this trip serves as excellent preparation for one of our Level 2 Day Trips or Ocean Skills Clinics. Otherwise, it's a great way to learn basic and advanced skills in a beautiful setting.
All introductory trips run from 8am to 5pm and depart from our Newton Boathouse. PFD, paddle, wetsuit, and paddling jacket rentals are included in the price of the trip. $135 with a composite or plastic sea kayak (model depends on availability).
